Bucs third in SoCon in Academic All-Conference selections

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Jan. 15, 2020) – The Southern Conference announced its Fall Academic All-Conference Team on Wednesday afternoon, as 36 ETSU student-athletes earned the academic honors for 2019.

The Bucs ranked third among SoCon schools with the 36 honorees, as Mercer led the way with 59, followed by Chattanooga (41) and then the Blue & Gold. A total of 348 student-athletes were recognized for the fall semester.

Women’s soccer and men’s cross country led the charge for the Bucs with eight selections each, followed by seven honorees from men’s soccer and six from football. Women’s cross country (4) and volleyball (3) round out the count for ETSU.

ETSU men’s cross-country runner Josh Krafsur (Fort Collins, Co.) earned special recognition by the league as one of 19 student-athletes in the SoCon with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the fall semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams’ competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
